Layered video in the Flash Player

Noterik released a new Flash video player, October 2008. This player facilitates Internet publishers in adding transparent layers on top of on-line video. These layers can contain, slides, photo's, (sub)titles and buttons.

The buttons on top of the video player allow the user to control the video more intuitively and add data to layers according to Web 2.0 principles. A layer can also be used for publishing learning orientated objects, such as multiple choice questions or for feedback forms.

Noterik WebTV Platform

The Flash Video player is often used in combination with the web-based media management system that Noterik developed to manage and publish video in a flexible and scalable way. This software runs on a cluster of web services. The cluster has full network and file system redundancy, including 3 independent gigabit Internet lines and over 50 terabytes of storage in a raid environment.

The cluster is constantly upgraded and extended with new services and capacity to meet growing demand. Services include for example, Custom built file system manager, Search and statistics services, Speech recognition, Transcoding and image capture services. All these services are designed according to new Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), allowing third parties to easily integrate with the API’s for example using REST calls.

Filesystem Manager

Transcoding & Image capture

uploadtool The WebTV platform also provides a Desktop Upload Tool that can speedup the media import process, by transcoding large files. A server side transcoding service is also available for clients that prefer to upload and store their original videos on our WebTV cluster but stream a lower quality video to preserve bandwidth.

Search and Statistics

uploadtool A customizable search API is provided to clients to manage their assets with more ease. In addition, a statistics module is in place so the clients have a clear overview of the usage of their assets.

Speech Recognition

uploadtool The cluster is also equipped with an Automatic Speech Recognition service (ASR). This allows us to provide specific services to our clients such as subtitling and search on a video asset.
